When it became clear that I tended to shut down because my inner critic yelled so loudly in my head, I drew a comic about it. In response, my therapist noted how my healthy self seemed to have been scared into speechlessness. She suggested giving it a “sign” to hold up, until it grew brave enough to speak again. Even if it was just imagined, this became so meaningful to me, because it meant that despite a raging critic, maybe my healthy self wasn’t as utterly powerless as I thought. Even in the hardest times, this potatocorn will always love you!
